Cost reductions with parts leveling - experiences of customers

23.02.09

Today, leveling of parts is more and more common to the sheet metal industry. ARKU customers report that precision leveling pays off in different ways.

Leveling pays off!

To level thick flame-cut parts straightening presses or bending machines are often used. Even with experienced staff it can take up to 20 minutes to level one part. With the ARKU precision leveler FlatMaster® these parts can be flat and stress-free in a few minutes. If 2 minutes are needed instead of 20 minutes, then this results in time- and cost-reductions. To show these reductions, ARKU uses cost effective analysis. A simplified version of this tool you will find here.

Better results in welding and chamfering

With precision levelers, companies not only have time- and cost-savings when leveling parts. Flat and stress-free parts provide better results in subsequent production processes. The Meissle GmbH, a German laser-job-shop, reports that they have advantages during chamfering their parts. “By using the FlatMaster®, we do not need to correct the angular adjustment during chamfering as much as before.”, said General Manager Marcus Meissle and continues: “Our needed processing time is reduced by 10 percent.”

The advantages of roller leveling are also known by the laser-job-shop Roland Deeg GmbH from Germany. “The process reliability is better since we use the FlatMaster®. We have to do 70 to 80 percent less angular adjustment corrections during chamfering.”, reports the General Manager Roland Deeg. Additional advantages are offered to the German sheet metal company during the welding process. “Leveled parts better fit in our welding preparation.” Said Roland Deeg and continues: “Non-productive times, which are normally needed for placing the part in our welding preparation, are minimized to nearly zero.”
